Get started with NetNewsWire 6 for Mac
NetNewsWire is a free and open source RSS reader for Mac, iPhone, and iPad.
It’s like podcasts — but for reading.
NetNewsWire shows you articles from your favorite blogs and news sites and keeps track of what you’ve read.
This means you can stop going from page to page in your browser looking for new articles to read. Do it the easy way instead: let NetNewsWire bring you the news.
To get started, download NetNewsWire 6 for Mac.
Add an account
Tip If you’ll read on one Mac only, you don’t need to add an account.
You can use your syncing feed account so you can keep track of your feeds and the articles you’ve read in one place:
- Choose NetNewsWire › Preferences from the menu bar.
- Click Accounts, then click .
- Choose iCloud or, if you use another service, choose it and sign in.
Subscribe to a feed
Click and choose New Web Feed, then enter the URL for your favorite site or its feed.
You can also subscribe to a Reddit feed or subreddit, a Twitter feed, or a Micro.blog feed to read directly in NetNewsWire.
Twitter and Reddit feeds only work with an iCloud or On My Mac account.
If you use another feed reader and don’t have a syncing account, you can import an OPML file of your subscriptions.
Click a site in the sidebar to see its articles or use Today to see the latest. Click an article to start reading.
Use your keyboard to read one-handed
NetNewsWire makes it easy to read. You can even use keyboard shortcuts to read one-handed.
space bar Scroll through an article and go to next unread at the end
n Jump to the next article
z Next subscription
⏎ Open in browser
s Mark as starred
u Mark as unread
k Mark everything here as read

See the whole article, every time
If you don’t see all of an article, use Reader View. Click to see the full article. No need to open it in your browser.
